Buying crypto in France after the MiCA transition

CryptoGov Research Desk Β· Sources reviewed 1 November 2026

01 / LOCAL CONTEXT

Check the current French-facing status

The AMF states that the French transition ended on 1 July 2026. A provider relying only on the former PSAN status cannot use that old registration as the basis for continuing services. Check the current PSCA position before treating a historic registration announcement as sufficient.

Record the company that will serve you, its authorisation basis and the services you intend to use. Compare the account agreement with the official information. Do not assume that every product in a familiar application is supplied by the same entity or has the same regulatory treatment.

02 / WORKING CHECKLIST

Choose the purchase and custody path

Decide whether you want to hold the asset on the platform or withdraw it to your own wallet. Compare the total euro cost, including deposit charges, spreads, execution fees and withdrawal fees. Read the custody terms and the conditions under which withdrawals can be delayed.

Confirm the blockchain network before buying an asset you plan to withdraw. The same ticker may exist on several networks, and the receiving wallet must support the actual asset and network combination. Verify any memo or destination-tag requirement separately from the address.

03 / WORKING CHECKLIST

Keep proof from the first transaction

Use strong authentication and a small operational test before committing a larger amount. Check the payment beneficiary and use the required reference. Verify receipt of a withdrawal through an independent block explorer or the intended wallet, rather than trusting only an email confirmation.

Keep the euro funding record, order confirmation and wallet movement together. Also record what else you held when a later disposal occurs, because French private-disposal calculations can require wider portfolio information. Establishing that habit at the first purchase is easier than reconstructing it after several platforms and wallets.

Sources & scope

Official sources support the jurisdiction context. The working checklists are CryptoGov’s editorial preparation suggestions, not an exhaustive application or filing requirement. Confirm the rules and your circumstances before acting.
