Find the actual permission
For a Germany-facing provider, use BaFin’s company database together with ESMA’s MiCA information. Search the legal name from the agreement and identify the home authority. A register result for a similar group company is not enough to establish the status of the entity receiving your deposit.
Read the service scope and current status. Exchange, custody and investment-style services should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they share an interface. If the exact product is unclear, put the question to the provider and retain its answer with your records.
Check for an identity mismatch
Compare the domain, company number, contact details and account beneficiary with the documentation you found. Approach customer support through an independently established channel. A cloned website can display genuine registration details while directing payments to an unrelated destination.
Make a short comparison sheet with one column for the register and another for the agreement. Mark every difference rather than explaining it away. Ask why the fiat beneficiary, crypto custodian and contracting entity differ, and what each entity owes you if the service stops operating.
Make verification repeatable
Save the entry, terms, verification date and your intended service in a single folder. The useful result is an evidence file that another person could follow, not a memory that the company appeared on a list. Check again when terms or legal entities change.
Also inspect warnings and notices, while recognising that absence from a warning list is not approval. Permission checks answer an important counterparty question; they do not establish that a token is correctly priced, that withdrawals will always be available or that a new yield product has the same scope.
Sources & scope
Official sources support the jurisdiction context. The working checklists are CryptoGov’s editorial preparation suggestions, not an exhaustive application or filing requirement. Confirm the rules and your circumstances before acting.
