How to prepare a crypto banking application in United Arab Emirates

CryptoGov Research Desk · Sources reviewed 1 November 2026

01 / LOCAL CONTEXT

Prepare a UAE-specific account file

Set out the company’s jurisdiction and distinguish its commercial licence from any applicable financial-services permissions. Describe whether funds belong to the company or customers and identify the legal entities operating the proposed exchange and custody relationships.

Use the UAE business explorer to organise activity and jurisdiction research. The banking checklist below is practical preparation, not an official guarantee of account eligibility or a universal list of bank requirements. Confirm the requirements with the selected institution.

02 / WORKING CHECKLIST

Explain the flows, not just the sector

Prepare a concise account-purpose statement and a diagram of expected money movements. Distinguish operating revenue, shareholder capital and customer funds. Identify expected currencies, countries, payment volumes and principal counterparties. Include incorporation documents, beneficial ownership and evidence supporting the origin of funds.

Explain which exchange or custodian is involved and supply the relevant permissions where applicable. If customer funds are involved, ask how safeguarding and account segregation must work for the proposed model. Do not describe a customer-money account as an ordinary operating account.

03 / WORKING CHECKLIST

Obtain clear operational answers

Ask the bank which crypto-related transfers it will support, what ongoing evidence it requires and whether any counterparty or jurisdiction limits apply. Discuss payment references, anticipated withdrawal sizes, settlement timing and escalation contacts. Keep the response with the application file.

Account approval depends on the institution’s assessment. Neither a crypto licence nor a completed document pack guarantees an account or a specific payment. Keep transaction records current and tell the bank when the business model or expected flows materially change.

Sources & scope

Official sources support the jurisdiction context. The working checklists are CryptoGov’s editorial preparation suggestions, not an exhaustive application or filing requirement. Confirm the rules and your circumstances before acting.
