Describe the Swiss operating model
FINMA’s FinTech information points to banking-sector guidance on accounts for blockchain companies. Use that as background, then obtain the chosen bank’s current requirements for your actual activity, ownership and counterparties.
State whether you are seeking an operating account or a structure involving client funds. Document the regulatory analysis and the custody or exchange providers involved. A Swiss incorporation or financial-services status does not by itself settle the bank’s due-diligence decision.
Explain the flows, not just the sector
Prepare a concise account-purpose statement and a diagram of expected money movements. Distinguish operating revenue, shareholder capital and customer funds. Identify expected currencies, countries, payment volumes and principal counterparties. Include incorporation documents, beneficial ownership and evidence supporting the origin of funds.
Explain which exchange or custodian is involved and supply the relevant permissions where applicable. If customer funds are involved, ask how safeguarding and account segregation must work for the proposed model. Do not describe a customer-money account as an ordinary operating account.
Obtain clear operational answers
Ask the bank which crypto-related transfers it will support, what ongoing evidence it requires and whether any counterparty or jurisdiction limits apply. Discuss payment references, anticipated withdrawal sizes, settlement timing and escalation contacts. Keep the response with the application file.
Account approval depends on the institution’s assessment. Neither a crypto licence nor a completed document pack guarantees an account or a specific payment. Keep transaction records current and tell the bank when the business model or expected flows materially change.
Sources & scope
Official sources support the jurisdiction context. The working checklists are CryptoGov’s editorial preparation suggestions, not an exhaustive application or filing requirement. Confirm the rules and your circumstances before acting.
