Current support and future plans
BNY and Ripple announced an expanded collaboration on 27 October 2026, with BNY supporting XRP and RLUSD on its Digital Asset Custody platform. Releases published by both parties confirm the announcement. The development concerns institutional custody and related infrastructure, rather than the launch of a new cryptocurrency.
The same announcement includes prospective initiatives: broader support for tokenised assets on the XRP Ledger, direct RLUSD minting and redemption through BNY, and exploration of tokenised trade finance. Those plans should not be collapsed into the custody capability described as available. BNY says intended future product plans remain subject to final BNY and regulatory approvals.
An exploratory trade-finance component
The parties describe work with C2FO to explore supply-chain finance involving approved receivables. The proposal concerns representing existing financial assets and broadening how they might be financed or distributed. It is not evidence that every invoice has become a freely transferable token or that a production programme has reached a stated scale.
Ripple’s release frames the collaboration as connecting digital assets with institutional servicing. BNY’s release provides the complementary bank-side statement and the explicit conditions on future plans. Together they support reporting the relationship and its scope; neither supplies independent evidence of future savings, returns or completed commercial volumes.
What makes this a distinct event
The material fact is the expanded collaboration and specified custody support. This report does not combine it with other Ripple announcements from the same week or treat each intended workstream as a separate completed launch. It also does not use unrelated token-price movements to measure the agreement’s success.
CryptoGov’s interpretation is that the distinction between holding an asset and using it within a financing workflow is commercially important. Custody can be one component of an institutional arrangement, while issuance, redemption and financing require their own operating and approval steps. The announcement itself preserves those differences.
The next useful evidence would be a documented launch of one of the intended services, eligibility details or a verifiable transaction under the proposed trade-finance arrangement. Until then, this is a report of a confirmed partnership expansion with a mixture of current support and future work. It does not endorse XRP or RLUSD, certify a customer’s access to BNY services or predict the financial outcome of the collaboration.
