Dogecoin (DOGE)
Distinguish the merchant payment from wallet change.
CoinMarketCap rank #11 · 1 November 2026
How it works
Dogecoin transactions spend previously unspent outputs. A wallet can consume one larger input, pay a merchant and return the remainder as change. Looking only at total input value can substantially overstate the sale.
Worked example
In a fictional transaction, a wallet spends a 100 DOGE input. The outputs are 25 DOGE to the merchant and 74.9 DOGE back to the buyer. The 0.1 DOGE difference is the transaction fee. The merchant should reconcile 25 DOGE.
What to verify
Match the actual receiving address and output amount. Identify change from the wallet’s records rather than assuming the larger output always belongs to the sender.
