How it works
Bittensor organises work into subnets. For subnets using alpha tokens, staking exchanges TAO for a subnet-specific balance. Its value in TAO can change before the stake is withdrawn.
Worked example
If a dashboard shows a larger alpha balance, compare the current unstaking quote with the TAO originally committed. The token count alone cannot tell you the outcome.
What to verify
Record the subnet ID, validator and estimated TAO returned for the size of your withdrawal.
