Token Files · Chainlink LINK
An address can prove a LINK balance. Checking the price used by a lending market takes a different set of records.

Start with the asset
Chainlink services use LINK for payments. On Ethereum mainnet, identify the token by its address: 0x514910771AF9Ca656af840dff83E8264EcF986CA. A transfer receipt tells you which address received tokens and how many units moved. To establish what those tokens paid for, you need the receiving contract and the service transaction as well.
Read the supply in its own units
The original token source sets supply to ten to the power of 27 raw units. LINK has 18 decimal places, giving one billion whole tokens. The constructor credits the deploying address. That first accounting entry cannot establish the share circulating today, the identities behind today’s largest wallets or the date of a future release.
To investigate a claimed unlock, identify the address holding the tokens and the mechanism restricting transfer. A transfer out of a treasury wallet and the expiry of a contractual lock are different events. Record the block and the evidence for whichever event actually occurred.
Which price did the application use?
Suppose a lending market values collateral in dollars. Begin with the market’s oracle configuration at the block under review. Identify the feed address and quoted pair. Read the feed’s decimals and the timestamp attached to its answer. Applying the token’s 18 decimal places to a feed with eight would move the decimal point by ten places. If the application combines feeds or applies an adjustment, trace that calculation before attributing the final valuation to one feed.
